About the Author

I grew up in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. The Gateway to the North, as they say.  As a child, I loved nothing better than catching frogs, fishing, playing in the woods, and reading. An animal lover at the core, and self-described nature nerd, I was obsessed with the natural world and our place in it.

Now 29 years old and living in Toronto, Ontario, my outlook hasn’t changed but my surroundings certainly have. Instead of lush stands of trees, I’m surrounded by high-rise condos. Wildlife is scarce, except for urban dwellers such as racoons, seagulls, pigeons and rats. This can all get very depressing.

So I read. And I watch documentaries. And I get out of the city whenever possible to grab a slice of nature. And push myself to see it within the city as well.
